There are few things one can see so vividly that are billions of years older than mountains. The kinship between mountain and moon is unique: the moon has been watching every cycle of the mountain’s growth and erosion since the very beginning. Their majestic relationship is most evident when the mountain seems to reach up and touch the full moon as it hangs low in the sky. The bright light casts dramatic shadows across the deep valley, just as it has for centuries and will continue to do for countless cycles to come.
