Hardware store to host local celebrity chefs and former Colorado athletes in Boulder-centric Grillapalooza event
Boulder, CO –June 6, 2017—McGuckin Hardware and Buffs4Life, Boulder establishments known for their dedication to the community, are joining forces at McGuckin Hardware’s west entrance on Saturday, June 10th from 10am to 2pm for a “Grillapalooza” event, featuring live grilling demos from local celebrity chefs and former CU and NFL athletes.
Chef Arik Markus from Fate Brewing, Chef Hosea Rosenberg from Blackbelly and Cade Beerman from Zolo Grill will all be practicing their crafts—and serving a variety of samples—hot off grills from leading manufacturers like Traeger, Fornetto, Big Green Egg and Weber.
“This summer is going to rock and we are stoked to kick off the season with the 2017 McGuckin’s Grillapalooza!” said FATE’s Arik Markus. “The event brings together all of our favorite things- grilling, chilling with friends and sharing good times around great food. As a small, family-owned business ourselves we are proud to both be a part of the Boulder community but also thrilled to partner with businesses like McGuckins.”
A fourth grillmaster team will be comprised by representatives from Buffs4Life, a nonprofit started by former University of Colorado athletes and dedicated to helping current and past CU athletes and coaches in need. Former CU football athletes Darian Hagan, Curtis Koch, Joe McCreary, Sean Tufts and Alex Kelley will be all be in attendance to show their skills on the grill. Chip the Buffalo will also make an appearance from 12-2pm.
“While Grillapalooza covers the gamut of the barbecue world no matter what each person is cooking in their backyard, it’s not just about grilling,” said Mark Murnan, buyer for McGuckin’s Outdoor Living department. “It’s also the backyard activities that go along with it—tailgating and hanging outside—all while benefitting the community in which we work, live and play.”
The Colorado-based Tru Pickles company will also be in attendance, introducing “the Juce,” their brand-new pickle-juice based electrolyte product geared towards endurance athletes and claiming to quickly conquer cramps on the go.
“From employing CU students to helping student groups and athletics financially, supporting the university in our community is a year-round thing that goes hand-in-hand with McGuckin’s values,” Murnan said. “Many Boulderites become McGuckin fans for life, and once you’re a CU Buff, you’re a Buff for life.”
