Roads leading into the Village Shopping Center to be renamed ‘McGuckin Way’
Boulder, CO –February 16th, 2016—McGuckin Hardware, a celebrated community institution for the last 60 years in Boulder, will be honored in February with a new name for the throughways that lead into the Village Shopping Center from three main city streets.
“It’s very rare for a business to be successful for 60 years,” said Paulajane Moffit, who has managed the McGuckin property for the past 20 years. “McGuckin is the epitome of what a landlord could hope for in a tenant. It represents the center. You could never have a strong, almost entirely local presence without an anchor like that.”
McGuckin has called the Village Shopping Center—known as Boulder’s first shopping center—its home since 1955. The hardware store has moved to different buildings within the shopping center twice in its 60-year history, settling in its current location in 1978.
“McGuckin Hardware and the Chamber share a passion for sustaining Boulder’s unique business culture and high quality of life that are the foundation for our long term economic vitality,” said John Tayer, president and CEO of the Boulder Chamber.
“The McGuckin Way is the path to success through a mix of hard work, business acumen, community spirit… and everything you need under one roof,” Tayer said.
“I’ve often thought that this was one of the best locations in Boulder,” said Dave Hight, McGuckin CEO and founding family member. “Bill [McGuckin] would be proud.”
An unveiling ceremony will take place near the intersection of 26th and Canyon streets near McGuckin Hardware on Tuesday, February 23rd from 4pm to 4:30pm.
