Whether you are interested in building your own little library for scholarly, or simply neighborly reasons, we encourage you to give it a try! We will host a "build day" right here at the store for a limited number of participants. There will be a charge for materials - we'll confirm costs involved soon! If you are interested in participating, simply fill out our Little Free Library Build Day interest form.
In conjunction with our Build Day, we'll host a community book swap. If you don't feel like building, but would very much like to contribute or swap books, please join us! No need to register, just show up with your books. We'll keep it simple and ask that books fit into three basic categories:
Any "unswapped" books left behind will be donated to a local charity.Bike Drive for Community Cycles Thanks to everyone who helped with the bike drive for Community Cycles! We collected 32 bikes, which will be refurbished and put back to use in the community. Some will be repaired by participants in the Earn-A-Bike program and others will be refurbished by volunteers and sold in the showroom to support advocacy voice and educational programs. We are proud to be partners with this full-service non-profit bike shop that makes biking accessible to everyone! Then head over to our mall, The Village Shopping Center, bring your gas, solar, or human powered vehicle to our west parking lot (Folsom side). Our neighbors at Brewing Market Coffee will provide a free hot cup of coffee to anyone bringing a car, motorcycle or bike to show off!
Bears and Boulder Trash If you haven't already heard about the new ordinance, the city of Boulder is requiring all homes west of Broadway (and south and Sumac Avenue) to make their trash and compost cans bear-resistant. You can put your existing cans in a CanShed, or upgrade to bear-proof trash cans like the ones made by Toter.
Read the recent Daily Camera article about CanShed here. Additional Upcoming Events Be sure to check our store event calendar regularly. There's always something going on at McGuckin Hardware! Don't forget about leftover and OTC hunting licenses, available starting the morning of Tuesday, August 5th!
