In just a few days we will mark the one year anniversary of one of our city's worst disasters. It has been difficult for us to think back to those days when our store felt like a disaster-recovery zone dedicated to fighting flood waters in basements, crawl spaces, window wells, garages, yards and the like. We didn't stop there. So many health and human service agencies and volunteer rescue groups sought our assistance to help find and dig out people, pets, homes and belongings.
Thousands relied on our Facebook and Twitter feeds to stay abreast of the next delivery of sump pumps, dehumidifiers and fans. We truly appreciate the words of encouragement from people all over the country - you helped buoy our spirits on those long, soggy days.
As a 30+ year tradition, last year's September Tent Sale went on as scheduled and brought a bit of "normalcy" to an otherwise chaotic month.
We hope that you have recovered or are on the road to recovering from the flood. Over the last 12 months it has been uplifting to hear from customers that have stopped in to share progress on rebuilding and repairing. If you email or post on social media, we will happily share your updates with our Green Vest team or simply stop by our Tent Sale later this month and let us know how you are doing!
